Peggy Sweeney-McDonald is an actress, producer, and author. She is a native of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Louisiana State University. She returned to her hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2016 from Los Angeles, California where she was the Owner of Superstar Events-LA and produced unique and memorable red carpet, non-profit and corporate events. She is the creator of Meanwhile, Back at Café Du Monde…, the hit festive food monologue show/event and the author of the best-selling coffee table book, Meanwhile, Back at Cafe Du Monde... Life Stories About Food by Pelican Publishing. After the premiere Meanwhile show at the Myrtles Plantation in 2010, she produced the show across the country with over 150 shows with 400 storytellers sharing their food stories in restaurants, corporate events, and for non-profit events. Peggy has been a presenter at The Louisiana Book Festival, The Faulkner Society Words & Music Conference, The California Culinary Historians, The Louisiana Restaurant Association, Women of Infinite Possibilities, Passions of the Palate and the Chili Pepper Extravaganza. Since being back in Baton Rouge, she has created events for the Louisiana Marathon, Southern Food and Beverage Museum, the East Baton Rouge Library, Preserve Louisiana, and the Louisiana International Film Festival. She recently produced and starred in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Love Letters at the Old Governor’s Mansion. In 2019, she was honored at the Celebration of Women. She is married to James McDonald, a realtor for Keller Williams.
